“My roots in coastal Karnataka are strong,” reminisces Golden Star Ganesh about his journey in the Kannada film industry. He shares that the key figures behind his debut film, Chellata, such as the director, producer, and music director, all hailed from Mangaluru. His connection to the Karavali region deepened over the years, particularly after marrying Shilpa, who is also from there. Expressing his growing affinity for Tulu culture and the land of Parashurama Srishti, Ganesh reveals his dream of making a Tulu film, which is now coming to fruition in collaboration with Shilpa.
Reflecting on the cultural influence of his mother-in-law, Ganesh commends the talent in the Tulu industry, noting their impressive comic timing. He looks forward to collaborating with renowned actors and filmmakers who have already left their mark in cinema. Making a cameo appearance in the upcoming Tulu film, Ganesh humorously assures that he will deliver a few dialogues in the language.
Shilpa highlights the personal significance of the Tulu film project, describing it as a tribute to her roots in Karavali. Recalling her childhood in Dubai and visits to watch Tulu dramas, she emphasizes the film's focus on showcasing the essence of the region, drawing a parallel to the impact Mungaru Male had on Coorg.In Mangaluru, a region abundant in culture and artistry, much of its potential still awaits exploration. Through this film project, our aim is to showcase Mangaluru in a similar light as Mungaru Male did for Coorg - highlighting its tourism, art, culture, and the linguistic beauty of Karavali," Shilpa expresses.
